FAQ
Materials and Mediums
My mediums vary between digital, traditional, and mixed. For traditional pieces I usually use graphite, ballpoint pen, Prismacolor colored pencils, and a various selection of Micron and Faber Castell pens. I’m not a heavy painter, but would love to venture more into acrylics and watercolor.
I use Clip Studio Paint on an ipad (9th gen) to draw digitally. I also use CPS for coloring in traditional pieces. I also get all my textures from the app itself or find overlays online.
Where am I based?
I am a US based artist from Kansas City, MO.
Do you take commissions?
Contact jekyllpaint@gmail.com for commission inquiries.
Do you go to art school?
I am 100% self taught. The internet has been my best teacher for as long as I have been drawing. I’d encourage developing artists to utilize free tutorials online. I use pinterest as a tool for photo/drawing references, anatomy, color palettes and general inspo.
What is your process like?
Most of my favorite works come from freehanding. A lot of pieces are actually not planned but just intuitive sketching. It's about finding that flow state. I do make a point to target weak points by practicing anatomy, character design, shapes, and perspective studies. I usually dedicate a sketchbook to this and prefer to study on paper since it builds confidence.
